Zoi Sagia, Policy Officer, SNE, EC-DG for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, Unit H.5. Smart Mobility and living, European Commission
Ms Zoi Sagia is Greek and has a broad engineering background:
- • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, N.T.U.A
- • MSc in Environment and Development, N.T.U.A
- • PhD 'Heat Transfer Computational Methods which can also be applied to Geothermal field of study for energy savings and environmental benefits', N.T.U.A
- • Diploma in Civil Engineering (cycle of specialization: Transportation Engineering), U.TH
She served as Laboratory Teaching Staff in National Technical University of Athens, participated in Permanent and Technical Committees in the Technical Chamber of Greece in the field of Public Works and Energy Efficiency in Buildings. She authored educational material for engineers, students of engineering as well as research papers published in International Journals.
She joined the Commission as SNE in December 2015 and has been contributing with her engineering background to the development of policy initiatives mostly related to smart mobility, connected and automated driving and CO2 reduction.
To name some, she followed GEAR2030, the evaluation of the Intelligent Transport Systems Directive 2010/40/EU, the proposal for amending Directive 2008/96/EC on road infrastructure safety management, the proposal for a regulation setting CO2 emission performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles, etc. She participated in the ITS World Congress 2018 delivering the keynote speech in the 3rd Plenary Session.
